The Factors Of Affecting Thermometer’s Test

(A)The body factor
Temperature tests affected by many body factors, such as: age; female menstrual period and pregnancy; individual differences; before test whether exercise, eat, bath or not and mental status.
(B) other factors
Test sites: thermometers test the surface temperature, because different part of the surface has different heat dissipation, so the test of armpits, neck, mouth, rectum, vagina, tympanic membrane, groin, forehead, etc., the test values
will be different. Armpit temperature may be 0.2 ~ 0.4 lower than oral temperature ; Armpit temperature can be 0.4 ~ 0.8 lower than rectal temperature
1,Ear thermometer,  normal range is between 35.7 ~ 37.9
2,Forehead temperature,  normal range is between 35.0 ~ 37.0
3,Oral temperature,  normal range is between 35.5 ~ 37.4
4, Armpit temperature ,  normal range is between 35.0 ~ 37.0
5,Rectal temperature ,  normal range is between 36.2 ~ 37.9
Test duration:
1,Ear thermometer,  testing time is 1-15 sec
2,Forehead thermometer,  testing time is 1-15 seconds
3,Oral thermometer,  testing time is 3-5 minutes, seven minutes the best
4, Armpit thermometer,  testing time is 5-10 minutes , in principle should up to 10 minutes.
5,Rectal thermometer ,  testing time is 3-5 minutes
Test method: parts, angle and clip method of thermometer placed.
As noted above, thermometer test affected by many factors, therefore, the body temperature test results only relative temperature, not absolute temperature. General requirements, on health conditions, when quiet should use the same kind of thermometer ,the same time, the same parts of the body to test temperature 2 to 3 times. their average is usually the normal body temperature. As usual, normal body temperature is 36.5 , If there are no factors, suddenly rose to 36.9 , although below 37.0 in normal , also should be closely observed, test again every 2 to 3 hours to see if it continues to rise.
